What "Race to the Sky" is...

Located in close proximity of Queenstown resort area Sout East of New Zealand, Race to the Sky is staged in Waiorau Snow Farm within Cardrona Valley. Its first race was in 1998, despite having a young history, the popularity matches with Pikes Peak International Hill Climb held in the USA. The event became discontinued with its last race in 2007 which has since gathered much wishes from fans all over the world for its revival. Now, the once popular event shall breath again in 2015 with all its original goodness; Totally gravel road, 14.5km course length, 135 corners, and harsh altitude differences up to 1050m. As the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb has now become a totally paved race course, Race to the Sky is now the largest and longest gravel hill climb race. Gravel course is a condition demanding high driving technique from the driver. With pluming clouds of smoke from hard drifting on the gravel course, spectators would surely be pleased. Already, many contenders are entering the race to challenge Monster Tajima's course record. Monster Tajima and company intends to take on all challenges head-on as defending champion and to achieve a ninth overall win and break the course record to set anew. Event Official Web Site
